LHI Tip of the Week – AHA Moments

Have you discovered anything different about yourself over the past 6 weeks? Anything that suddenly made you think – AHA! I feel or look this way because I’ve been making healthier choices! Or maybe – AHA! I am making progress toward my goals!

We like to call these revelations “AHA moments.” When all of a sudden you discover a positive effect from your healthy lifestyle.

AHA moments are great rewards for your hard work and persistence to live healthy. Sometimes we may feel like we’ve hit a plateau in our progress and just cant seem to get passed it, but it is important to look for changes in other areas of ourselves rather than the numbers. Have you felt more awake and alert during the day because you’re sleeping better at night? Have you found yourself making healthy choices out of habit rather than conscious thought? Do you feel more confident in yourself as you interact with others? These can all be positive effects of living a healthier lifestyle. Try to focus on how you feel throughout the day and on any new feelings or habits. AHA moments like these keep us motivated to continue making healthy choices to reach our goals and beyond.

Congratulate yourself and your team members on the progress you all have made during the 10 Week Wellness Challenge! Compliment your teammates on something new you notice about them – they may have an AHA moment because of it!

Here is my aha! moment! I am a teacher, and I was walking down the hallway at school last week. I had the sudden realization that my thighs were not rubbing together as I walked. I walked back and forth, up and down the hall, probably four or five times, just to make sure it was really true. It may seem like a stupid, silly thing, but after 17 years of being obese, my.thighs.do.not.touch. It’s a beautiful feeling…or lack of feeling. 🙂

    • WOW!! Way to go Trish! That is a very rewarding AHA! moment – Keep up the great work, we are so proud of you! Thank you for taking part in LHI’s 10 Week Wellness Challenge, you are an inspiration to all!

Thank you! I’m down 86 pounds since October of 2011…twelve of them since starting the challenge… Loving it! (and my Live Healthy shirt is a LARGE…the first LARGE shirt I have worn since college. Life is good!)
