Can you believe it?! We have made it to week 10 of the 10 Week Wellness Challenge! Think about where you were when you joined the challenge and began on January 28th. Look how far you have come! You and your team have done an awesome job incorporating healthy habits into your lifestyle and we hope you now have the tools, resources and support to continue progressing toward your goals and live a life of wellness.
Take time this week to reflect on the changes you have made to your daily routine; How does your mindset toward healthier foods now differ from the beginning of the challenge? What new activities do you use to stay physically active? Have you developed habits and routines that support your healthy lifestyle that you had not considered a few months ago? Are your goals a reality rather than a dream?
Remember, your new healthy lifestyle does not have to end this week. As the weather is warming up in Iowa, it is the perfect time for outdoor activities and using seasonal produce to freshen up meals and snacks. A personal journal can be used to continue to track progress toward long term goals. Live Healthy Iowa has more challenges throughout 2013 encouraging Iowans to develop additional healthy lifestyle habits, such as Strut Your Pup, Burst Your Thirst, The Next Step and Healthy Families. The next challenge in Live Healthy Iowa’s 2013 lineup is ‘Strut Your Pup’. During this 6-week, dog-walking challenge participants track the number of minutes they are active with their pet. Dog walking is great for your health and studies have shown people who regularly walk dogs may benefit from lower blood pressure, have a trimmer waistline and suffer from fewer chronic diseases. Strut Your Pup takes place April 22-May 31 and registration is now open at www.livehealthyiowa.org.
