Father’s Day is Sunday and we thought it would be appropriate to focus on the wonderful men in our lives in celebration of Men’s Health Week (June 10th-16th). Our fathers, brothers, husbands, uncles, boyfriends and friends play such an important role in our lives and their health should not be taken for granted. Men and women may not share the same health risks and challenges, however it is just as important for both men and women to have routine doctor visits for check-ups and preventative screenings, as well as taking steps to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.
According to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), men are 24% less likely to have seen a doctor in the past year. Regular checkups and screenings can identify many health risks that are much easier to treat with early diagnosis, including the top causes of death in men – heart disease, cancer and accidents (unintentional injuries). Share this with your friends and family – remind the men you care about to take charge of their health! For more information about important men’s health topics, click here.
